Ristorante-Pizzeria Lo Zimino, Alghero

Seafood Spaghetti at Lo Zimino, Capo Caccia

It was lunch time when we finished visiting the Grotte di Nettuno. We noticed on our way there that there was a little marina with hotels and habitation and decided to see if we couldn't lunch there. Found a restaurant-pizzeria Lo Zimino and it turned out to be a good choice.

The Teenager and his pizza

Service was slow as there was only one person serving quite a number of tables, but everything we ordered turned out to be quite good. In every restaurant in Sardinia they serve you this dry flatbread called Pane Carasau which was originally baked for shepherds who had to stay away from home for months on end. Apparently it can keep for up to a year if kept dry. I mentioned it because I literally ate baskets of it while waiting for my food to arrive. For some reason I'm quite fond of it.

Grilled Scampi

After lunch, the waitress and a few patrons suggested that we walk down to the beach nearby if we wanted to have a swim. We had to walk through a whole compound of residences to reach the beach, but it was quite worth it as the water was crystal clear and the beach moderately clean. And there were only a few families on it.

Private Beach at Capo Caccia

Of course we were to discover at the end that it was a private beach meant only for the residents and that the guards had been kind to let us stay there all that time. The water was a little cold, but the kids swam in it nonetheless and had a great time digging in the sand.
