Polignano a Mare (Apulia)

DC and M would often go to Apulia since his family is from the region. When we told them that we would be in Bari, they advised us to visit Polignano a Mare and even gave us the name of a trattoria there. Alas, we didn't reserve beforehand and it was full.

Polignano a Mare's little rocky beach

Polignano a Mare is a beautiful fishing village. Built on rocky limestone cliffs filled with coves some of which are deep enough to reach the centre of town - the view is surreal. It has a small rocky beach with clean blue waters that would be covered with towels and beachgoers once the weather gets warmer - and the village is usually hot and dry during summer.

Old Town

The old town is quite pretty with the usual wet clothes hanging out to dry as we would see everywhere in Bari and near it. They probably do not usually have thieves stealing clothes and underwear in the region. A few restaurants were in caves, with a view of the sea.

Hot antipasti

We had dinner at a 2-fork restaurant mentioned in our Michelin guide : Ristorante L'Osteria Di Chichibio. It is known for serving mainly seafood dishes on ceramic plates. As you enter the dining room you'll see an oven on the left and piles of ceramic dishes on the counter. Apparently they do very good hot antipasti most of them baked in the oven. And for those who love their seafood raw, the restaurant has a good range of cold antipasti.

More antipasti

We were not very hungry that evening and I was getting quite sick of pasta and risotto no matter how good they were. So Hub and myself shared a (generous) portion of hot antipasti followed by a portion of Seafood Risotto each. Eldest Son had Grilled Fish. The food was good though I didn't taste anything, I was feeling quesy from over-eating, I suspect.
