Play Dates for the Young and not so Young

Taboulé, Guacamole, BBQ Meat and Prawns, Fried Vermicelli...

When the weather improves, we come out of hibernation and feel more inclined to socialise. Baby Boy had a little playdate with his good friend Fede last Thursday and we were invited to dinner at DC's on Saturday. On Sunday, we had the L's and B's over for a BBQ lunch. And we are all trying to make the most of the season before the mosquitoes, wasps and flies return in force to make eating in or out unbearable.

Watching the Simpsons (Fede's request)

Dinner at DC's (the man behind the New California)

Produce from Apulia (where his family comes from)

Grilled Fennel and Pork Sausages

BBQ Lunch with the L's and B's (we were 6 adults and 8 kids!)

  1. I am always amazed at that big field next to your house. It looks bigger than the size of a Spore's primary or secondary school field!

Why didn't the landlord plant anything there? Is the soil not fertile enough say for some crops like oranges, olive, figs etc?

Or he has more lucrative plans for some high class hotels in the near future if the right biz opportunity strikes?

  2. Yes the field is very big but it's absolutely not fertile. Nothing grows here. They probably put alot of fertilisers just to grow some wheat for the animals.

Whatever plants I have grow in pots.

And the weather here is probably too hot during summer and too cold during winter for olives, oranges etc.

I don't think the landlord will sell the land we're on now. It's their historical bit and they're very attached to it.
