Ristorante La Felicità, Milan

La Felicità

Since we've gone to an Indian restaurant the night before, we decided to try a Chinese restaurant La Felicità mentioned in the Michelin guide for lunch the next day. Polenta and other Milanese delights would have to wait for another occasion.

Chinese restaurants do not usually make it to the Michelin guide in France and I could name quite a few that are way better than the one we've tried in Milan. But I guess Chinese food in general is so bad in Italy that when one's halfway decent, it gets a mention in the red book.

Won Ton Soup

It's a small restaurant near the Castello Sforzesco. Simply decorated and very popular on this Sunday afternoon. We did well to have reserved a table that morning.

Hot and Soup Soup

The soups (e.g. Hot and Sour Soup, Won Ton Soup, Tom Yam Soup) were quite good. But avoid the Tim Sums, they were quite horrible, the prawn filling tasted like rubber as did the thick yellowy skins.

Phoenix Prawns

We ordered Fried Phoenix Prawns which were quite good, crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. They provided Hoi Sin sauce for dipping. There was also Fried Sea Bass with Sweet and Sour Sauce that had the value of being prepared for easy consumption. The Thai Fried Noodles had nothing remotely Thai about it, the Hot Plate Sichuan Beef is not even half as tasty as the one from Les Jardins de Mandchourie in Paris, the meat was dry and flat, and the Cantonese Roast Duck was limp.
